It seems this year’s trend for highly anticipated queer shows is to make exciting announcements during Pride month, if Our Flag Means Death renewal is anything to go by. Whilst Showtime made a highly-anticipated confirmation that we’d get a third season of The L Word: Gen Q back in February, fans have been eagerly awaiting more news and now we have it. Last night, the show’s Instagram page posted a delightful image of Bette (Jennifer Beals), Alice (Leisha Hailey) and Shane (Katherine Moennig) with a captionreading: “Besties, we’re rolling!!! #TheLWord Season 3 is OFFICIALLY IN PRODUCTION!!!”

When can we be reunited with our favourite Californian queers?

Unfortunately there’s no confirmed release date YET. All we know is that, it will premiere later this year and like previous seasons, it will contain 10 episodes.

Season two originally aired in the US on 8 August, but wasn’t released to UK audiences until November. So we can assume that the dates may be similar this time around.

The last episode left us with multiple cliff hangers, with some plot points leaving us hungry for more and others anxious for more. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, there was so much to love about the second instalment, but, for me, Gigi was the highlight of the last chapter. Every line that comes out of her mouth is gold. We need more Sepideh Moafi on our screens. Stat. All we can do now, is wait for more news. I hope you all enjoy obsessively refreshing your timelines for more The L Word news.
