Liverpool has its giant spider, Antwerp has its elephant parade, comprising seventy elephants, which have been placed haphazardly around the city. On the daily school run, we encounter ten of them (even witnessed them being set up), and today, we tried to chase down another 22. The munchkin crawled under them, ran around them, and generally had a good time*.

Film maker Parthiban Shanmugam's latest film "Even Cactus goes to Heaven" trailer has been released. This time he deals with children of alternative family. It is not just story of one girl... its a story of millions of lesbian and gay couple children world wide. It is an universal story.

"Helia Anthus has a problem. She is different. She is bullied by most of the other kids in the neighborhood. But when her only friend loans her a book, she learns that being different can also mean being special".

So greetings from Down Under,

Today I want to chat with you about an odd topic, something I like to call the "lesbian circle of attraction effect". This is when a lesbian finally comes out and cements their identity and welcomes other lesbians into her life. What does this mean in laymen's terms? Essentially, being in the closet can be a terrifying experience, almost as terrifying as being out of the closet!! But the slow realisation of who a person is at heart and the sudden awareness that this person needs to ultimately acknowledge this in front of others can be a confronting fact to live with. You tend to spend hours, days, years even, thinking about all of the possible scenarios which may occur as a result of coming out and usually, the eternal pessimist in us, presents those really ugly outcomes for us to sit with more often then not. And so, ultimately we are left with worry, anxiety and self esteem which is shot to bits. This can send many lesbians into a downward spiral and put them into a negative headspace. Often, being in the closet will entail being without any homosexual, bixsexual, transexual or othersexual support.

From Jennifer Beals

My goodness—what an amazing day.

I wake up at 4:00am in the complete DARKNESS. Make my way to Second Beach—my iPod blaring a combination of country music, Gwen Stefani and Amy Winehouse to wake me up. The park, the beach are both in complete darkness as I set up my bike, my cleats, my socks, my numerous gels (God bless the makers of GU gels) my running shoes, my running hat, my capris and shirt, my biking jersey, my jacket, my goggles (prescription, if you must know), my swim cap, my towel, my little bucket to get the sand off my feet, and my La Mer face cream (my friends got a good chuckle out of that last relatively useless article). In short, I have more changes than Cher at a Vegas extravaganza—except no Bob Mackie to wriggle in and out of but a wetsuit that would seem glued to my body when it came time to take it off.

Check in, get body marked—the kind woman who engraves my body with the number "207" in Magic Marker asks me if I wanted smiley faces in the "0"s. Sure, why not? A little sense of humor never hurt anybody.
