Past is prelude, and denial is a very inconvenient truth.

As Phillys said in the latest episode and finale of this season. I began to think as to if this truly is a definite, something that is and always will be. In Shane's case this truly is a definite, because she (and so many girls outside of that commercial puke box are) just doesn't know what to do with herself if an oppurtunity arises where one has to choose between the "good" or "bad" things to do. People like Shane (as do certain people I know, including myself sometimes) will always find one way or another to return to their 'natural' state of being and fuck it all (or just a small but very important portion of it) up to the point of no return; never being able to turn things around and thus, make things better again.
In the case of, let's say, hope for the sake of humanity or anything else that's just good enough to make things better, I'd still like to think that some people are capable to pull themselves together tight enough to really make an effort to do just that.

It's been a hectic couple of days; with the website and messageboard being offline due to some kind of moron who pressed the wrong button, not having drinkable water here in my hometown at the beginning of this week ánd terrible weather. Oh; and not to mention the nearing of the end of season 5 of The L Word. (If that's even the correct way to scribble that last part down.)

At the beginning of this week a waterline burst with the result of having no water. No water to drink, no water to clean, no water to wash, no water to friggin' flush the toilet (still saying hallelujah for having a couple of water bottles to fill up the water thingy that's needed to flush) and worst of all: allround panic here up north when everybody first came to the understanding that there wasn't any water. Shopping malls where overthrown with people who wanted/demanded water (any kind of water was good; bubbly water or plain) and within one hour every single bottle was gone. Some people even bought 30 bottles while some didn't get to buy any, and the people who already hád some water had the nerve to ridiculously overprice the bottles they had and were willing to sale to anyone who didn't have any. It's weird; coming to the understanding that for the next few days (maybe the next week?) there won't be any water flowing from the tap. First you think it's just a small problem with the water company (as it happends once or twice a year if you're unlucky) that will be fixed within the next few hours, but when you hear that this is a problem which can't be fixed as fast as you'd like... you start to panic. Everything revolves around water! It's silly, but having experienced something like that really shakes you up a bit; it'll have you think about what would have happened when something like this occurs on a large scale. What if that did happen? Would people in a civilized country as The Netherlands start killing each other for a couple of bottles of water? I think that just might happen. I won't be one of those murderers, heck; i can't even imagine me killing a mouse or a bird, but still... when something like that happens all options are open and lying in plain sight spreaded out on the table. It makes you (or at least me) more carefull with my water usage. I mean; yeah; everybody knows not to leave it running when you're not using it, or to not have a 30 minute shower and those kind of things, but still. You start to really think about it. Getting water straight from the tap isn't always a piece of cake as it should be. ..Or as it is and have been in the past.
When we didn't have any water, people and kids didn't have to show up for work and school and our hospitals were closed for minor injuries it really made me think about what kind of effect we, the human race have on our earth. Yes; that's maybe far fetched from having a leak in the watersystem with the result of having no water pressure, but still. People need water to survive and when it isn't there you've got a full scale panic attack on your hands! Note to self: use water when needed, don't just let it flow!

But now it's all good again. FeroForum is back, we've got our water back and best of all: despite the fact that the weather is terrible at the moment, there are definite signs that spring is around the corner. And that's good. Change is definitely in the air. Soon all those daffodills will emerge again together will all those other beautifull flowers, I'll hopefully move to Amsterdam soon for my new study to first become a cook after that a chef, there will be a new president of the United States (as long as it's not Bush I'm fine with it), gay rights are being recognised in a steady movement that runs across the world, there are still a few episodes left of The L Word and.. well, actually everything seems to fit in its place as it should be. And it'll be as a piece of cake. Easy to make and with a hint of vanilla or chocolate crumbles everything will be fine. Having a new FeroForum and the ability to renew and better it (and with it, ourselves) is just the icing on the cake.
